Dobcross open doors for Chalk (and others)

Dobcross Silver Band will be welcoming Phil Chalk, MD of KDNS Fairey Band to work with them this week — and others are welcome too.

Dobcross
The rehearsal will see the band work on the test piece 'Arkansas'

Dobcross Silver Band will be opening their bandhall doors to welcome KDNS Fairey Band MD, Phil Chalk for an evening Area test-piece rehearsal this week.

Test piece work

It takes place on Wednesday 12th February at the Dobcross Band and Social Club (OL3 5AD) starting at 8.00pm prompt, and is open to all visitors (rival band members and MDs included as long as they don't come in disguise!)

MD Jason M Smith told 4BR: "Phil is a conductor for whom I have huge respect and I couldn't think of anyone better to really get into the nitty-gritty of 'Arkansas' ahead of our Blackpool appearance.

It's not an official pre-area run out, but a wonderful opportunity for the band to work under one of the best in the business — and I can sit back and listen."

Banding benefit

He added: "Dobcross offers a warm welcome to anyone — so if you are coming please say hello and let us know where you are from. We are here to offer a banding benefit not just to ourselves."
