New quartet adds experience to Grimethorpe Area challenge

Chris Gomersall, Mark Frost, Andy Holmes and Paul Argyle add talent to go with the experience for Grimethorpe Yorkshire Area challenge.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band have announced the signing of a quartet of highly experienced players as they look towards their assault at the Yorkshire Regional Championships in Huddersfield next month.

Signings

Chris Gomersall, Mark Frost and Andy Holmes return to the band on solo trombone, bass trombone and solo cornet respectively, while Paul Argyle comes in on soprano cornet to make his debut.

The former National Champion won the last of their 11 Yorkshire Area titles in 2006 and last qualified for the Royal Albert Hall in 2019.

Speaking about the new arrivals, MD Ben Dixon told 4BR: "We're thrilled to welcome such high-quality musicians. I'm sure their talent and wealth of experience will elevate our performances, and we look forward to an exciting musical journey ahead with these great players joining our already talented team."
