The Lydbrook Band has announced the appointment of Dr. Brett Baker as its new Musical Director. He will officially start his tenure on 1st June with a local concert on the picturesque riverbank in the village.

Association

Speaking about the appointment Brett told 4BR: "I have had a fond association with Lydbrook since joining the band aged around 13. The positive encouragement and tuition that I received made a huge difference and helped me on my career path.

I'm excited to be working with the band again as they return to the Championship Section in 2026 and with the ambitious plans they have for the coming years. I'm thrilled to give something back to a wonderful band organisation."

Wonderful

In response, Band Secretary, Robert Morgan said: "It will be wonderful to have Brett involved with Lydbrook Band on a permanent basis as he moves back to live in the Forest of Dean this summer.

We've always maintained a strong musical relationship, and he's returned on numerous occasions to perform as a guest soloist. We're looking forward to working with him and are excited to take advantage of his wealth of experience gathered over many years."
