The Elgar International Festival of Brass has informed 4BR that they hope that the forthcoming series of concerts featuring the Septura Brass Ensemble, Cory, Foden's and Black Dyke Band will once again result in 'sold out' signs being posted at the Malvern Theatre in Worcestershire in June.
Septura open
The acclaimed Septura Ensemble will open the weekend of performances on the Saturday night (7th June -7.00pm) with works by Rameau, de la Guerre, Roxana Panufnik, Clara Schumann and Mendelssohn, as well as a world premiere of Edward Gregson's 'The Merry Love to Dance'.
In addition, there will be n unique opportunity to hear the composer in a special interview with Frank Renton that takes place over the weekend.
Cory and Black Dyke
Sunday 8th June kicks off at noon with Cory Band under Philip Harper with a demanding programme that includes classic test-piece music by Eric Ball as well as featured soloist Tom Hutchinson.
They will be followed by Black Dyke Band under Prof Nicholas Childs with a programme that also features works by Edward Gregson, who this year celebrates his 80th birthday. It will include 'Prelude for an Occasion' as well 'Connotations', and the rarely heard flugel and baritone duet, 'One September Morning' featuring Phoebe Mallinson and Mike Cavanagh.

Foden's round off
Foden's round off the weekend at 4.30pm with their own Gregson tribute in playing the march 'Chalk Farm' as well as his test-piece, 'Essay' in addition to featuring their own soloists in euphonium player Gary Curtin and marimba player Mark Landon in Etienne Crausaz's 'Concerto Grosso'.
