Fresh from their Grand Shield success in Blackpool, the EverReady Band has announced the appointment of Jonathan Fenwick as its new Resident Conductor.
Following the departure of Chris Shanks earlier this year, he and John Roberts prepared the band ahead of the North of England Regional Championships and the Grand Shield. The latter helped the band claim a memorable victory under the direction of Stephen Roberts, returning the them to the British Open for the first time since 2013.
No stranger
A graduate of Durham University Music Department, Jonathan is currently Head of Music at Parkside Academy in County Durham.
He is no stranger to the band, having played as a percussionist and also enjoying a successful conducting association with Ferryhill Band — incouding claiming the Second Section North of England Area title this year.
So impressive
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Jonathan's work ethos and attention to detail has been so impressive in working with us, and we are delighted to have him lead our preparation for the British Open in September and beyond."
