Charlotte Heaven makes a welcome return to playing as she joins Diggle Band as principal cornet.

Diggle Band has annucned their new signing

Diggle Band has announced the appointment of Charlotte Heaven as its new principal cornet.

Charlotte began playing with Dobcross Youth before joining Oldham Band (Lees), where she enjoyed considerable success and won the Junior British Open Solo Championship under the guidance of Mark Wilkinson.

She subsequently went on to hold the principal seat at Dobcross Silver Band and Hebden Bridge Bands where she enjoyed helping them to victories at the Second Section National Final and the First Section Yorkshire Area.

Enthusiasm returns

After a short break from banding to complete her PhD in Cancer Research, Charlotte now returns and told 4BR that she is full of renewed enthusiasm.

"I'm really excited to be back in a local band with a great group of musicians and looking forward to where the future takes me."

Outstanding player

In response, Musical Director Sean Conway added: "Charlotte is an outstanding player and a natural leader. Her experience, musicality, and passion will be a huge asset to the band as we prepare for our appearance at the First Section National Final in Cheltenham and beyond."
