A special Edward Gregson 80th birthday celebration concert will take place at the lovely St Elizabeth's Church in the small Cheshire village of Ashley this weekend (WA14 3QE) at 2.30pm.
Free event
The free event has been organised by the composer's great friend Paul Hindmarsh and will feature works by Edward Gregson alongside those by Adam Gorb, Simon Parkin, Gary Carpenter and Helen Leach as well as vocal works by Vaughan Williams, John Ireland and Roger Quilter.
Performers include Rebecca Afonwy-Jones (mezzo-soprano); Benedict Holland (violin); Joh Turner (recorder); Murray McLaughlin (piano); Simon Parkin (piano) and the Victoria String Quartet.
Wish to attend
A buffet and light refreshments will be provided after the event, so if you wish to come along, please let Paul Hindmarsh know so that there won't be a shortage of food and drink to go with the great music making.
