The Scottish Borders Brass Band Association (SBBBA) has secured £2,600 in funding from the Hayward Sanderson Trust to support its long-running Youth Brass and Percussion Workshops, open to young musicians aged 8 to 21 from across the region.
March and September
The funding helped deliver a workshop in March this year and will support another in September.
Led by experienced conductors and musicians, the workshops offer a full day of playing music, developing skills, and meeting others with a shared passion for brass and percussion. Players are grouped by ability: C Band — Beginners; B Band — Intermediate; A Band — Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band.
The Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band has proudly represented the region at the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships, winning the contest five times, and represented Scotland at the European Youth Championships in 2017.
