This pulsating new take by composer Steven Ponsford on Johann Pachelbel's classic 'Canon in D' is ideal for both concert and entertainment contest programmes.
A cornerstone of the Baroque period, the work widely known and frequently heard, and this inventive arrangement offers an exciting new perspective on the work.
Baroque and rock
It begins with the familiar ground bass theme, followed by a series of four-bar motifs.
These are developed distributing them across the band to give interest to every section. A short fugue adds a baroque style although the music is accompanied by a rock beat, aimed to create a fresh and light feel to the work.
