Markham & District has just returned from a short tour to Ireland which not only saw the band thoroughly enjoy their hosts hospitality, but also enabled them to help raise €1500 for Waterford Hospice.
Community spirit
It was as a spokesperson told 4BR, "...a cultural connection, musical collaboration, and a display of community spirit in every sense."
The Second Section band performed across the south of Ireland, showcasing their brand of entertainment to new audiences and forging bonds with local communities and musicians along the way — from the bustling streets of Clonakilty to the sunny promenade of Cobh, and finally the magnificent Christchurch Cathedral in Waterford.
With strong support from the Waterford Rotary Club the band joined forces The Polyphonics Barbershop Chorus for a concert in Waterford Cathedral which raised the funds for the charity.

Thanks
Their spokesperson later told the band that they thanked them for their support, "for patients and their families across the Waterford Community Care Area", whilst reflecting on the success of the trip, Band Chairperson Rhianydd Prosser added: "We've shared music and laughter with new friends and we're proud to have made a real difference along the way.
Playing in Waterford Cathedral was a highlight we'll never forget — and to raise money for such an important cause made it even more meaningful."
