The popular event has attracted extra prize money for 2026

The Morley March & Hymn Tune Contest is set to return for its 18th year on Sunday 28th June 2026, with organisers inviting bands to register early for what promises to be a vibrant and rewarding day of music.

Prize boosts

The contest has attracted extra prize-fund money, with enhanced awards in the lower sections to encourage wider participation.

In addition to the £600 overall first prize, all the 'Best Section' prizes (outside of the overall top 3 placings) have been increased up to £150. A total of 15 cash prizes and trophies will be presented, continuing the contest's tradition of celebrating musical excellence.

The vastly experienced Alan Morrison will adjudicate the performances for the event which will kick-off at 12.30pm with a Road March along the pedestrianised Queen Street in the town, followed by the Hymn Tune and Contest March in the arena outside Morley Town Hall.

All music is own choice, and the contest is open to bands from Youth to Championship Section.
