The British Open champion Brighouse & Rastrick has announced the death of Michael Trickett, a former member of the band from 1974 to 1983. He died on 20th October, aged 78.

A former member of Chapeltown Silver, Cortonwood Colliery and Hoyland Town Bands, he worked as an electrician maintaining this role until retirement from Scunthorpe steelworks.

Success

He joined the West Riding band aged 27 during a fine period of success, going on to play his part in the band winning the British Open, National Championship, European Championship and Granada Band of Year.

He was also a member of the band that enjoyed global recognition with the success of the pop record 'The Floral Dance'.

He later moved to Cheshire to enjoy retirement with his family, but still kept in touch with his former colleagues.

Funeral

The funeral will be held on Friday 14th November at 1.15pm at Macclesfield Crematorium, with donations made to East Cheshire Hospice.
