Foden's round off year with awards and goodbyes

The North West Regional Champion has rounded off a busy year by thanking its supporters, partners and players who have given outstanding commitment.

Fodens Presentation
Presentations were made to Paul McDonald and Melanie Whyle

2025 North West Area Champion Foden's recently held their final concert of the year in their home town of Sandbach.

The concert also featured the Foden's Community Band who entertained the large audience as well as joining forces with their senior counterparts, whilst it also gave the band the opportunity to thank their official Partners, Vice-Presidents and Gold Patron Members at a buffet reception.

Awards and presentations

The band's annual awards were also made, with the 'Bandsperson' and 'Player of the Year' accolades, chosen by the players themselves, going to cornet player Darren Lea and solo baritone Ashley Dixon.

The event also marked the final performances of long serving cornet player Paul McDonald and flugel Melanie Whyle who leaving the ranks due to work and family commitments.

Not lost

Paul originally joined Foden's in 2002 and since 2013 has been 'bumper up', with Mel originally joining on repiano in 2011 before switching to flugel. However, the pair's invaluable talents will not be lost with Paul continuing to provide IT support and Mel deputising when needed as well as continuing as Foden's Youth Band administrator.
