Morton set to link with Sandefjord

David Morton is set to become Musical Director of Sandefjord Brass Symposium in Autumn 2026.

Former Norwegian National Champion, Sandefjord Brass Symposium has announced that David Morton is to become its new Musical Director.

The conductor led Desford Colliery Band to National Championship success at the Royal Albert Hall last year as well as directing Oslofjord Brass to the Siddis First Section title.

Autumn role

He will take the role from Autumn 2026, formalising a connection that already seen him work with the band in their preparations for the forthcoming National Championships in Bergen in February.

He will lead Brottum Brass at the NM Championships as well as EverReady at the North of England Regional Championships.

The band has also confirmed that former principal cornet, Hans Christian Nystad has returned to the ranks.
