Crofton Silver Band has announced the appointment of Gary Perrin as their new Musical Director.
The Huddersfield University graduate majored in conducting under Phillip McCann and during his university studies took up conducting with Hade Edge B Band, before moving to enjoy a tenure at Ratby Mid Band, where he led them to twin Area Championship victories as well as success at the Wychavon Contest.
He subsequently enjoyed a two year link with Blidworth Welfare Band, before taking a short break from conducting to focus his professional career as a music teacher and to start his own business as a brass repairer.
Gary is also the MD of Foresters Brass in Leicestershire, a former championship level band that now operates as a 10-piece ensemble.
Delighted
Having previously enjoyed playing percussion as a guest with Crofton at the Red Admiral Entertainment Contest last year, he is now delighted to be asked to take on the conducting duties at the Yorkshire band.
In announcing the appointment, Crofton Silver Band Chairperson Roger Hine, said: "We are delighted that Gary has accepted the appointment, and are looking forward to him taking us to the Yorkshire Area Championships. We all enjoyed his audition and feel sure he will be good for us.
Thanks
He added: "We must also sincerely thank his predecessor, Dean Jones, for leading us through the most successful period since the band's foundation over 150 years ago and we wish his well in all his future endeavours."
