The acclaimed concert performance by Black Dyke Band at the recent RNCM International Brass Band Festival can now be enjoyed on the Wobplay media platform.
Percussion concerto
Directed by Prof Nicholas Childs the Yorkshire champion was joined by guest soloist Yasuaki Fukuhara (above), who thrilled the packed audience with his remarkable performance of Simon Dobson's Percussion Concerto, 'The Hall of Healing'.
The programme also included a brace of world premieres in 'Wildfire' by Emmy award-winning composer Bruce Broughton, as well as 'Aureum Spiriti' by Danish composer, Jacob Vilhelm Larsen.
Edward Gregson's 'Symphony in Two Movements' provided the substantive close to the first half, which also included the sparkling opener ''Fanfare for Bradford' by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, and Philip Sparke's 'Gemini Concerto' which featured the twin talents of Tom Hutchinson and Adam Bokaris.
Roman Festivals
The concert was rounded off with the huge sounds of Howard Snell's masterful arrangements of Respighi's 'Roman Festivals'.
The coverage also includes the interviews given by Bruce Broughton as part of the Radio 3 coverage of the event, as well as with Yasuaki Fukuhara and composer Simon Dobson.
