Yorkshire Imperial Band has recently taken part in several high‑profile projects that sit well outside their usual brass band boundaries.
Games Gone
One was for Steve Bracknall's 'Games Gone' comedy football podcast in support of The Royal Oak FC, which was played out in front of the largest ever crowd for a Sunday League game and a huge online following in the hundreds of thousands.
The band provided live music, appearing alongside comedians, guest players and a media team that pushed the match out across several social channels, including the BBC.
Indie band
The Imps also recorded with Manchester indie group Afflecks Palace back in December (just days before a performance in London for the Home Secretary!), contributing to their new album which is due for release later this year.
Afflecks Palace was formed in 2019 and has released two full studio albums and several EPs which have been eagerly snapped up by their ever growing fan base across streaming and social platforms.
They described the recording session with the band and a videographer as 'the highlight of our recording careers'.
Range
A Yorkshire Imps spokesperson told 4BR: "Together, the football appearance and the Afflecks Palace session show the range of activity the Imps have taken on recently, from large‑scale entertainment events to cross‑genre recording work that sit outside of the traditional brass band sphere."
