The sound of Christmas with a little bit of help from the MD of the newly crowned National Champion...

Following his success in leading Cory Band to the National title at the Royal Albert Hall, Philip Harper has quickly turned his attention to national celebrations of a different kind with his series of arrangements of festive favourites.

Perfect festive fit

Over the years as Wright & Round's Music Editor, he has produced arrangements of classic carols to fun pieces that will fit perfectly into any Christmas band programme.

'The Gloucestershire Wassail' is a cracking opener with players beginning the work in small groups around the hall before coming together on stage for a full-band finale.

'A Festive Herald' provides a larger-scale statement, while 'Festive Fusion' and 'Yule Dance' bring familiar seasonal material together with his trademark flair and rhythmic energy.

For a gentler change of mood, 'The Snow Carol' offers something tender and joyful.

Together, the pieces can supply the framework of a complete programme: an entrance with impact, colourful items through the middle and a moment of calm before the final run of audience favourites.
