Charitable Christmas for Dobcross

Dobcross Youth Band has enjoyed a very charitable Christmas.

Dobcross Youth

December was a very busy time for the Dobcross Youth Band.

They have performed at concerts, played at supermarkets and shopping centres as part of important fundraising to support the band for the year.

However the band members have also taken time out to think of others.

Torchlight procession

The Youth Band's 'Torchlight Procession and Carols' on the village green is a highlight of the Dobcross calendar. This year the village array of Christmas lights was splendid and it was a super evening, with everyone enjoying the carols, the mince pies and the mulled wine. The proceeds this year of £200 was sent to Francis House, the childrens' hospice in Manchester.

Stalwart members of the Youth Band, past and present, then turned out on Christmas morning to play carols around the village.

Warm welcome

A warm welcome, as always, was given to the band members — more mince pies and mulled wine were consumed. A special welcome was made at the home of Susan Crook, chairman of the Youth Band. Susan's mother sadly died just before Christmas at the grand age of 93.

In her memory the Christmas morning collection of another £200 will go to the Special Baby Care Unit at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester.
