The Shirley Band has announced they have engaged the services of Alwyn Green to direct the band in their challenge for honours at the Midland Area Contest in March.

The band have worked with Alwyn many times over the past 20 or so years, during which time he guided the band to 2nd place in the (old) Second Section National Finals.

Pedigree

Alwyn's pedigree in the music world bears comparison with the very best. He is the Bass Trombone for the CBSO as well as being a teacher, conductor, arranger and orchestrator.

The band report they are looking forward very much to the work ahead on 'James Cook — Circumnavigator', which they have no doubt will be a very enjoyable experience, resulting in what the band hope will be a highly polished and musical performance come March.
