Joint concert to premiere new work

A joint concert between Boscombe Salvation Army Band and Fodens Richardson is set to premiere Steadman-Allen work.

Fodens Richardson

Boscombe Band of the Salvation Army in partnership with Fodens Richardson are getting ready to perform the first full performance of Ray Steadman-Allen's 'Variants on Triumph of Peace'.

The work will form the musical centrepiece to a concert to be held at the Salvation Army, Palmerston Road, in Boscombe later this month where music of Eric Ball will also be featured as well as guest soloist Brett Baker.

Early in the day there will be a workshop for young people (suggested age range 12-20) with the Foden's Band at the same venue from 2.30pm until 4pm.

'Variants on Triumph of Peace' was written with the intention of bringing both band worlds together in performance, but so far has never received a full first performanceorganisers

Details

Further details about the concert and the workshop can be gained from the Band Secretary of Boscombe Band, George McConnell.

Variants on Triumph of Peace

Ray Steadman-Allen's work, 'Variants on Triumph of Peace' was written with the intention of bringing both band worlds together in performance, but so far has never received a full first performance.

Written in 1997, Steadman-Allen draws his inspiration from Eric Ball's original work, 'The Triumph of Peace'. The final focus of the concert will be to bring the two bands together for a complete performance of this work.
