The past two days have seen many fine performances at the Hannaford Festival of Brass; However, the two prizes awarded over the weekend went to the Weston Silver Band and Weston tuba player, Eric Probst.

Friday evening was the Hannaford Youth Band Solo Competition. There were three fine displays by the finalists, but it was Eric Probst winning the award with his performance of Gregson's Tuba Concerto. Also, noteworthy was the winner of the high school division, Kohei Kamikawa (euphonium).

Saturday was the community showcase featuring many of the fine Ontario bands as well as a few from the States. Weston Silver, under guest conductor Curtis Metcalf, was able to take the Hannaford Cup away from the inaugural winner, Maple Leaf Brass Band, with their sharp performance of Knight Templar.
