Paul Kiernan and Clackmannan continue their successful run at the Fife Contest on the weekend.

Paul Kiernan and Clackmannan District continued their winning ways at the weekend by retaining their title at the Fife Brass Band Festival.

Delighted

After recently gaining promotion to the Championship Section, and having a year of success that included winning 15 trophies, Paul was delighted at continuing their run of form telling 4BR: "I've been pleased with the effort and dedication the players have applied over the last 18 months, and was delighted to see the band reap the benefits of their commitment."

New signing

The band has also announced the signing of Willie Downie on solo euphonium. Willie played with Whitburn until 1989, then took a three-year break from playing. The second phase of his playing career began in 1992, when he rejoined the Broxburn, playing with them until 2000. During this period, Willie was Scottish solo champion in 1994 and East of Scotland Solo Champion in 1994/2000.
