Saturday dawns and the competition to become the 2008 European Brass Band Champions is up for grabs.

Brass Blot

Yesterday saw each of the 11 bands produce high class performances of the set work ‘Brass Blot’ – a test piece that was well received by the enthusiastic audience as well as the vast majority of the performers. It has been a work that has grown on people the more they have heard it.

Lots of bands have told 4BR that they are fancying their chances on their own choice selections4BR

Consensus

Talking to people in the bars and hotels after the contest finished, the general consensus seems to be that Cory are leading the field at present.

Their thrillingly detailed performance seemed to be the most comprehensively secure of the afternoon and evening, and it could well give them that all important edge as they prepare for own choice section of the contest this afternoon.

Fancy their chances

The rumour mill suggests we could well be in for a few surprises this afternoon, so log into 4BR to see how it all unfolds. Lots of bands have told 4BR that they are fancying their chances on their own choice selections.

It all starts at midday here (11.00am GMT) and the Norwegian Federation has once again been able to live stream the contest.
