Tuckwell finalists

The semi-finalists in the 2008 Barry Tuckwell Brass Prize have been announced.

Melbourne International Festival of Brass
 

Players through to the next round of the Barry Tuckwell Brass Prize at this years Melbourne International Festival of Brass are:
Mr Dave Barker
Mr Josh Rogan
Ms Paula Russell
Ms Louisa Trewartha

The annual competition, this year for cornet, offers the winner a new Yamaha Xeno cornet.

In round two, which takes place this coming Sunday, the players will perform either Rustiques by Eugene Bozza or Concertpiece No.2 by Vassily Brandt plus one own choice Percy Code solo (not the same as used in Round 1).

The Final will be held on Thursday. Pieces in this round are either Prelude & Capriccio by Gregson or Slavische Fantasy by Hohne, plus one own choice Helen Johnston solo.

The winner will be offered the opportunity to perform a set work (as played in the finals) with National Australia Brass on Friday 3 October 2008.

The Melbourne International Festival of Brass commences this Sunday 28 September and runs until Saturday October 4.
