In an announcement made by Kapitol Promotions, it has been confirmed that from 2009, both Regional contests and National Finals at all levels will dispense of points. Bands will be placed in order of merit.

Philip Morris of Kapitol Promotions stated that the decision was in line with policy advocated by the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators and will bring the regional and National Finals into line with other major events.
