New home for Co-op

Scottish Co-op gain a permanent base.

Scottish Co-op

Following their return from a successful concert in Inverness last weekend, members of the Scottish Co-op Band were delighted to learn that, from 1st November the band would have a permanent base in Dalmarnock in the east end of the City of Glasgow.

City of birth

The bandroom is located in the Laird Business Complex off Dalmarnock Road and this move ensures that the band will remain in Glasgow, the city of its birth in 1918, for the foreseeable future.

It is many months since the band had to vacate its former band hall in Paisley Road, Glasgow and during that time it has led a somewhat nomadic existence in terms of rehearsal premisesRobert McCorkell

Nomadic existence

Robert McCorkell told 4BR: "It is many months since the band had to vacate its former band hall in Paisley Road, Glasgow and during that time it has led a somewhat nomadic existence in terms of rehearsal premises.

"However, it is hoped that this latest development will bring stability to the band's situation and enhance rehearsals in preparation for the Scottish Open Championships in Perth later this month."
