Fountain City to join Brass in Concert in 2009

With their win at the U.S. Open Brass Band Championships, Fountain City Brass Band will head to Gateshead in 2009.

This year's U.S.Open Champions, Fountain City Brass Band will accept the invitation to be only the second American band to compete at Brass in Concert.

Fountain City Brass Band has informed 4barsrest that even with the current economic climate they will be accepting the invitation to compete in Gateshead.

"That [Brass in Concert] is the greatest stage for brass entertainment in the world and we hope to be able to represent our country to the best of our abilities.” Lee Harrelson

Band President Lee Harrelson stated” With the keen organization of Trevor Caffull and World of Brass, paired with a year of fundraising, we are confident that this trip is possible.”

“The invitation to Brass in Concert is humbling and we will accept their invitation. That is the greatest stage for brass entertainment in the world and we hope to be able to represent our country to the best of our abilities.” Lee Harrelson

Musical Director Joe Parasi is very excited about the prospect of competing again in England, especially given the groundwork that Central Florida has laid at the Brass in Concert Championship in 2006. Mr. Parasi also stated that he is very proud of the band, their level of dedication and their musicianship.

Given this incredible run of four straight domestic titles (two at the U.S. Open and two at the NABBA Championships), there is no doubt as to why Mr. Parisi is enjoying the ride.
