At a ceremony in the Banqueting Hall of the City Hall last weekend the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Howard Middleton, presented a framed citation marking the Reaffirmation of Black Dyke Band as 'Freemen of the City of Bradford' — an honour originally bestowed on the band in 1976.

Many of the band members and Trustees were present at the ceremony and Sir James Hill, the Vice President of the Band, received the Citation on behalf of the Band, and spoke in response to the Lord Mayor’s eloquent presentation.

The citation will take its place in the bandroom at Queensbury.
