Charity success for Hathern

The Hathern Band deliver the goods — and the cash to help a great local charity.

Hathern

The capacity audience in Loughborough recently enjoyed an evening’s entertainment provided by Hathern Band.

Charity aid

This was Hathern 9th Annual Charity Concert in aid of the Leicestershire & Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering (LOROS) and the band was delighted to welcome the Hospice’s new Chief Executive, Simon Proffitt to the contest.

Great playing

The Band under MD David Newman treated the audience to some great playing and in addition to raising funds for LOROS, the concert provided a showcase for the new instruments purchased with the aid of a grant from Awards for All.

Smart music folders were also in evidence on the player's stands for the first time – purchased with a grant received from Loughborough Building Society.

The concert was a huge success and raised over £2,000 for LOROS, including a donation of £750 from Barclays Bank under their '£ for £ Scheme'4BR

Huge success

The concert was a huge success and raised over £2,000 for LOROS, including a donation of £750 from Barclays Bank under their '£ for £ Scheme'.

In addition to the new instruments purchased, a brand new composition was premiered called 'Solum Valeo' (Strong Foundation) by Dean Jones. It provided a very exciting and dramatic climax to the concert.
