Two conducting students from Durham University were recently privileged to take part in a conducting workshop with The Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai military band based in Catterick.

Focus

The workshop, which was led by Ray Farr with support from Bandmaster Ian Mitchell, focussed on music by Gregson and Suppe. Although working in unfamiliar territory the two conducting students, Huw Thomas and Gareth Westwood, received positive feedback from the professional musicians.

The event was considered such a success that further workshops and collaborations are being planned.
