Flaten in Obama's new city

Norwegian euphonium star set to perform in Washington DC.

Flaten

This weeken, Norwegian euphonium star Tormod Flaten is representing Besson Musical Instruments as a guest artist at the annual US Army Band Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Washington DC.

Two concerts

Tormod is performing two concerts, a 60 minute recital with piano and Martin Ellerby’s 'Euphonium Concerto' with the US Army Orchestra.

It’s the first time Tormod will perform Ellerby’s huge concerto since he recorded it with Eikanger-Bjørsvik for his CD 'Norwegian Euphonium'.

I am honoured to get the invitation to play at this prestigious conference and I am very much looking forward to itTormod Flaten

Prestigious conference

Tormod commented to 4BR: "The orchestral version of the piece works really well and the US Army Orchestra does a great job accompanying me. I am honoured to get the invitation to play at this prestigious conference and I am very much looking forward to it."

British finish

Tormod’s all-European recital programme will include the pieces
'Michelangelo', 'Song' and 'Two Folk Tunes from Valdres', as well as larger works from Butterworth, Plagge, Castérède and Bartók — although he will finish off in true British fashion with the classic 'Rule Britannia'.
