4BR Money List

There has been plenty of money to win in the banding world over the weekend – from Preston to Yeovil and as far afield as Bergen.

Money

There were quite a few happy band managers and treasurers around the banding world after the weekend, as contests paid out some impressive prize money.

Biggest award

The biggest award was to be found in Norway, where the effects of the credit crunch are yet to hit as hard as other banding outposts.

Norwegian dosh

Eikanger’s 11th title at the Grieghallen in Bergen pocketed them 50,000 Krone which at the current exchange rates is just over £5,000.

That win takes them into second place in the 4BR Money Table and their performance suggested that they may well fancy a further boost to their resources by the time of the Europeans in Ostend.

The other big winners in Bergen were Tertnes Brass who won the First Division picking up 21,000 Krone (£2,112) and Kleppe Musikklag who won the Second Division to pocket 14,000 Krone (£1,408).

Blighty

Back in Blighty Yeovil saw Flowers make it a hat trick of wins at the Octogon and bag the £2,000 top prize ahead of Tredegar (£1,000) and BTM (£700).

Preston

Further north in Preston each of the section winners at Brass at the Guild Hall picked up £700 with £400, £300 and £100 going to the minor placings.

The week before there was money to be won at Blackpool too as Youth Brass 2000 took home with them £950 in various ensemble prizes, whilst Elland Youth took home £800.

Now all eyes are on the big pay days at the Regionals!
