Death of Govan Citadel stalwart

The death of Jack Gibb, a stalwart player of the Govan Citadel Band has been announced.

 

4BR has been informed by Govan Citadel Band of the death of it's legendary Bb Bass player Jack Gibb.

As spokesperson from the band told 4BR: "Jack served in the band for over 50 years and was a mentor, example and role model to all he met. He was a tremendous encourager, especially to the younger members of the Band and the Corps at Govan.

Respected

"He was a fine Christian gentleman and was respected by everyone he came into contact with, in the Army and beyond. He was involved in many recordings, away weekends and tours with the band and loved spending time in fellowship with his fellow bandsmen.

"He died suddenly in the early hours of Monday morning and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, band members and Corps.

Funeral details

His funeral will take place at 9.45am on Saturday 14th February in Govan Citadel, Golspie Street, thereafter 11.30am at Linn Crematorium.
