Diamond Award for Bestwood

Bestwood Black Diamonds have recently been awarded over £9,000.

Bestwood Welfare ‘Black Diamonds’ Band from Nottinghamshire has announced that they have been successful in an application for a grant from 'The Awards For All' which is a joint grants programme supported by Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sports England.

New instruments

The former coal mining band has been going for over 65 years and received £9,941 which the band will use to purchase new instruments.

Richard Greenwood from the band told 4BR: "The band would like to thank the 'Awards For All' programme for awarding us this grant which will help with the band’s vital work in the community. The band will be holding a special ceremonial handing over of the cheque later in May."
