A new President and some demanding repertoire as BBO celebrates 40 years in the Cantons...

 

To celebrate their recent 40th anniversary,Brass Band Berner Oberland (BBO) presented two concerts, one in Felben-Wellhausen and one in Spiez.

Demanding

The band conducted by Phillip McCann presented a programme of varied music which included with special guest soloists Thomas Rüedi (euphonium) and Raphael Christen (marimba) who together with BBO performed the demanding work by Swiss composer Betrand Moren entitled, 'Concertino Synthesis' and as an encore, the beautiful arrangement of 'Yorkshire Ballad' by Swiss Corsin Tuor.

Fond farewell

The band also gave a fond farewell to their former member and president Hansrudi Kernen for his dedicated service over the past 30 years, of which 26 were as President. Together with his wife Renate, Hansrudi invested an invaluable amount of time and work into the band's development.

New President

The new president of the BBO is their former baritone player Jürg Gertsch who served the band as a member for 18 years.
