Kidlington looks ahead to double celebration

The L&SC First Section champion will be celebrating both its 25th and 125th anniversary later this year — and is looking for help to make it an occasion to remember.

Champagne
Kidlington Concert will be celebrating both their 25th and 125th anniversary later this year.

2017 marks the 25th anniversary of Kidlington Concert Brass, formed in 1992 when Oxford Concert Brass and Kidlington Silver joined together to safeguard their futures. It also marks 125 years since the original Kidlington Silver Band was formed.

Current champion

To mark the occasion a special anniversary concert is being held in July.

The current band, which won the London & Southern Counties Area Championship this year, also wishes to reach out to ex-members of either band, or indeed anybody who has had connections with the organisation, not only to invite them to the concert, but to get in touch if they have any memorabilia or artifacts that can be put on display.

Special event

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We want to make it a very special event, so we also hope enough ex-players and supporters will come along to what will be a great, free occasion and bring an instrument for a massed blow at the end.

The current band will be performing concert favourites under MD Duncan Wilson, but we also welcome former conductors Catherine Underwood and Jeremy Wise to conduct some items and share their memories."

Get in touch

People who wish to contribute photos, memorabilia or stories for the event on 16th July in Exeter Hall, Kidlington (OX5 1AB) should contact committee member Dave Taylor, who will also coordinate the massed blow.
