Last call for former Gwent players

There is still time to get a seat with the Reunion Gwent Youth Band — so get your lips in trim for January.

Gwent Music Services

Following their Christmas courses this year, the Greater Gwent Youth Band will celebrate the start of their 50th Anniversary year with a Gala Concert featuring the Greater Gwent Intermediate, Gwent Reunion and the Greater Gwent Youth Band's conducted by Dr Robert Childs.

The concert will be compered by David Hayward who played on the first course and concert in April 1960.

Reunion

It is hoped that the Reunion Band will be full of former players — as far back as possible, and if anyone is interested in playing they should contact Andrew Jones at andrewjonesmusic@aol.com or 07973 869621.

Over 80

There are over 80 people already registered for the band and there is still room for a couple more too. The band will also feature former Gwent Music Support Service conductors who have been associated with them over the last fifty years.

Rehearsal

The Reunion Band will have one rehearsal on the day of the concert from 10.00am until 1.00pm at Ebbw Vale College. All the bands (over 250 players!) will join together for the grand finale of the 1812 Overture complete with cannon effects.
