St Austell celebrate

The players and supporters of the St Austell Band have had plenty to celebrate in the past twelve months.

The St Austell Town & Youth bands recently held their annual Christmas Concert which also saw the presentation of thier player awards.

Top Award

This year Michael Jackson was presented with the Chairman's 'Player of the Year' award, whilst light hearted 'King Moment' Award went to flugel player Caroline Hooper and bass trombonist Ben Minear was awarded 'Most Agricultural Player'.

2009 saw the St Austell Youth Band grow in numbers under the leadership of David Mumford and they attended the local Music Festival, winning first prize4BR

On a more serious note, 2009 saw the St Austell Youth Band grow in numbers under the leadership of David Mumford and they attended the local Music Festival, winning first prize.

Youth awards were won by Carys Brush, Daniel Hall, Mae Hollebon and Josh Poet Pearce.

Charity

Throughout 2009 St Austell Band Club Members raised nearly £1,500 for the Cornwall Care Hospice. At the concert a cheque was presented to a representative from the Cornwall Care Hospice. The charity for 2010 will be the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
