Arts Council delighted at addictive Bolsover nomination

Arts Council England has told Bolsover Festival of Brass that they are delighted with the results of its internet broadcast initiative and 4BR awards nomination.

Bolsover

Bolsover District Council and 'First Art' (a project funded by Arts Council England's Creative People and Places) have spoken of their delight that the 2015 Bolsover Festival of Brass has been nominated in the annual 4BR Awards.

Best Newcomer

The ground breaking initiative has been nominated in the 'Best Newcomer' category against nine other high profile contenders in recognition of the events first ever live, worldwide internet contest coverage.

It is the latest accolade for the popular Festival which this year made a huge impression on its local, national and international audience, as well as its funding partners.

Figures

Over 3,500 people subscribed to watch the contest day unfold in 33 different countries with nearly 300 different towns and cities in the UK alone.

Nearly all points of the banding globe were also reached with viewers in Indonesia, Montserrat, Barbados, Malaysia, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Greece, Cyprus, Thailand, India, Fiji, South Korea and Nigeria. The subsequent YouTube recordings have had over 9,000 viewings to date.

I was informed that they were absolutely delighted with the broadcast and 4BR nomination and said that they found the event, in their words, 'addictive to watch'Carole Hirst

Delighted

Carole Hirst of Bolsover District Council told 4BR: "Having spoken to Arts Council England's Music Development Manager for the East Midlands I was informed that they were absolutely delighted with the broadcast and 4BR nomination and said that they found the event, in their words, 'addictive to watch'.

They have offered to take a more active role in the event next year after informing me that they felt it ticked all of their boxes for reaching new and wider audiences. They have already committed to funding the broadcast for 2016 which will be staged on the 2nd October."
