The growing worldwide profile of the Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School has received a major boost with the announcement that Besson will become the principal sponsor of the 2018 course.

It is the latest significant addition to the course which was set up seven years ago and has since grown into one of the most popular Summer Schools of its kind.

Mead lead

The course will run from Sunday 22nd July to Friday 27th July 2018, and will be directed by Besson artist Steven Mead, who told 4BR: "I'm delighted that Besson are supporting the International Summer School.

It continues their outstanding support for the brass band movement throughout the world, and with more and more people opting to sign up each year from all parts of the globe to come to Bolsover, it reinforces the growing success and reputation of the course."

He added: "I'm really excited about what we will offer delegates next year — so make sure you book up and experience it for yourselves."

Worldwide potential

Course Administrator Carole Crompton added: "The solid foundations of the course are now well established, and this now helps us fulfil its worldwide potential.

Steve has such a well respected profile as a performer and teacher and vast experience of leading innovative, ground breaking courses and projects, so have both him and Besson on board offers even greater benefits for delegates."

The 2018 tutor team includes the likes of Mark Wilkinson, Jonathan Bates, Shaun Crowther, Steve Jones, Rebecca Lundberg and David Hirst.
