Youthful opportunities for judges in Yorkshire and London

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators will be leading a new 'Young Adjudicators' scheme at the Yorkshire and London & Southern Counties Area contest this year — so get your application in fast.

  The young judges will be able to test their skills in Huddersfield and Stevenage in the Third and First Section contests.

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) has announced that they will run a joint initiative with the Yorkshire and London & Southern Counties Regional Brass Band Committees to host two 'Young Adjudicators' schemes at their forthcoming Area contests.

Huddersfield and Stevenage

It will see lucky youngsters take on adjudication roles at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday 3rd March and at the Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre on Saturday 17th March.

The 'Young Adjudicators' will be mentored by AoBBA Executive committee member Nicholas Garman, leader of the Trainee Adjudicator Scheme.

He will help advise and lead them through the Third Section test-piece 'Napoleon on the Alps' by Philip Harper in Huddersfield and the First Section set-work, 'Brass Metamorphosis' by James Curnow in Stevenage.

Provisions

The official judges at each event will meet with the youngsters to discuss their adjudications.

The 'Young Adjudicators' will be provided with:

Seating near the official adjudicators box
Test-piece score
Adjudicator's Remarks Sheets
Adjudicator's Results Form
Band Member tickets for the young people and their parent/guardian(s)
CD recording of the individual young person's choice of winning band will be sent to them shortly after the contest.
