The Pontardulais Band is hoping to inspire the next generation of young players in the West Wales area by hosting a series of Autumn Workshop days.

In association with Create! Music Education and funded by a Ty Cerdd 'Music in Communities' grant the aim will be to inspire youngster by encouraging a passion in music-making through an introduction to brass banding.

Inclusion

The initiative has also gained support from the Austin Bailey Foundation which was established by the late Keith Bailey who, despite being a prisoner of war with the Japanese from 1942 to 1945, was conscious promoting social inclusion and togetherness.

Percussion Day

A Percussion Day will take place on 29th September (10.00am — 4.00pm) aimed at complete beginners through to Grade 1 standard and will include elements of tuned and non-tuned activities with a variety of instruments.

Brass Day

Meanwhile, a Brass Day will also take place on Saturday 6th October (10.00am — 4.00pm) aimed at beginners through to Grade 5 standard and will feature fun and exciting music arranged especially for junior band.

Both days will be held at Pontardulais band hall (SA4 8SN) and led by experienced musicians will feature tuition and masterclasses — as well as a free goody bag!
