Yorkshire British Open challenger Carlton Main Frickley is certainly trying something innovative as they prepare to showcase their preparation on 'A Brussels Requiem' ahead of Saturday's appearance at Symphony Hall.

Time and place

The band has teamed up with their friends from the Universal Brass Band from Switzerland for a special (and free!) 'Brass Night' concert and open rehearsal on Friday evening (September 7th) at the Birmingham & Midland Institute at 9, Margaret Street, Birmingham, B3 3BS (7.00pm start).

The evening will open with a short concert from Universal Brass Band followed by an open rehearsal by Carlton Main on 'A Brussels Requiem' led by conductor Luc Vertommen.

A little different

Band Manager Robert Browne told 4BR: "We were contacted by Universal Brass Band conductor, Gian Stecher last week and it seemed a fantastic idea to do something a little different.

We're really looking forward to being part of the evening and a big thank you goes to Gian and all of his band as they have been instrumental in pulling this together."
