It's been announced that the entertainment at the Gala Concert of the 2019 UniBrass Championships will be provided by Tredegar Band under MD Ian Porthouse.

Eclectic repertoire

Fresh from their critically acclaimed concert performance at the Austrian National Championship as part of the 2018 Linz Festival of Brass, the band will take to the stage at Pontio's Theatr Bryn Terfel in Bangor on Saturday 2nd February to showcase their typically eclectic concert repertoire.

The UniBrass Gala Concert has become one of the key attractions of the contest, which aims to round off the event with an inspirational performance from one of the UK's finest elite level bands.

Tredegar has gained a renowned reputation for their inventive artistic approach, which over the last few years has included appearances on 'Britain's Got Talent' to 'Band Cymru', the BAFTA Award winning film 'Pride', playing alongside Tim Minchin at The Old Vic in London to the NHS 70th anniversary celebrations at the Houses of Parliament.

Excited

Sam Hartharn-Evans, UniBrass Organising Committee Chair told 4BR: "With 2019 seeing UniBrass come to Wales, Tredegar was an obvious choice to showcase the best of Welsh brass banding entertainment. We're really excited to see what they have in store for us."

Enjoy themselves

In response MD Ian Porthouse said: "We're delighted to be able to perform at the UniBrass Championships — especially as they are being held in Wales.

There is always a fantastic atmosphere and a sense of inclusion at the event, and we aim to round the contest day off with plenty of great music to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves well into the night!"

Tickets will go on sale via the Pontio website on 7th December.
