Shirebrook opens for entries

Shirebrook Town Council is now looking for entries for its fourth Brass Band Open Entertainment Contest on Sunday 7th July.

The event will take place at the Shirebrook Leisure Centre in Mansfield (NG20 8JQ) and is open to any band, contesting or non-contesting to enter.

Two sections

This year the contest will be split into is split into two sections.

Section A will be for Championship, First and Second Section bands, with Section B for Third, Fourth and Unregistered competitors

There will be no registration requirements and a generous prize fund seeing the winner in Section A taking home £750, with podium prizes of £400, £200 and £200 for most entertaining Second Section Band. Each band will provide a 20 minute programme from first note until last.

The winner of Section B will head home with £300, with podium prizes of £200, £100 and £200 to the highest placed Fourth Section band.

The council is one of the most proactive supporters of the brass band movement, and has already announced a full line-up of bands that will be performing summer concerts from July to September.

4th August: Deepcar Brass Band
18th August: Ilkeston Brass
1st September: Brass Explosion with Strata Brass
