The British Open Brass Band Golf Competition is looking for entries to tee off later this year...

The British Open Brass Band Golf Championship is open to individuals and teams

Plans are falling into place for the 2019 British Open Brass Band Golf Competition.

Having run the event for the last 18 years, Stan Lippeatt has decided it's time to pass the baton (or should that be 6 iron) to Simon Willis and Andrew Bevan.

Stan told 4BR: "I've known these men for over 30 years and I know that they'll put the same effort into running the Golf Day as they have always put into their banding. They will do a great job."

This year's event will once again take place at Rufford Park Golf & Country Club in Nottinghamshire on Friday 24th May.

Prizes

Entries are now being sought for a day that will start with mid-morning refreshments before 18 holes of golf with individual and team prizes up for grabs. Presentation of prizes will take place after an early evening meal in the clubhouse.

The defending individual champion is a certain Frank Renton, whilst the team winners were from Stannington Brass of Derek Renshaw, Andrew Platts, Richard Mason and David Platts.

Golfers can enter as a team of 4 or as individuals (with the possibility of forming a scratch team on the day).

This year's event will once again take place at Rufford Park Golf & Country Club in Nottinghamshire on Friday 24th Mayorganisers

Entry details:

Teams should be made up of at least 3 active or former bandsmen (conducting/playing/management).

A maximum of one non-banding player will be permitted per team but that player will not be eligible for the individual award. There will be a separate award for the highest scoring non-bandsman.

The entry fee is £50.00 per person and initial enquiries can be made by contacting Simon by e-mail at: simonrwillis@gmail.com
