Brass Band England (BBE) has been delighted with the response to its fifth Artistic Development seminar.

Cory MD Philip Harper led the event at Pemberton Old Wigan bandroom, with BBE CEO Kenny Crookston telling 4BR: "The latest seminar in Wigan produced arguably the most fascinating discussion since we started touring England last September.

As ever, Philip's engaging presentation proved extremely effective in advancing the programme planning thought process for those present, and there was a good turnout with a high level of interaction."

Excellent job

He added: "The facilities and hospitality offered by Pemberton Old Wigan Bands were terrific and we would like to thank them for hosting our event. The organisation's 'B' Band was the 'Guinea Pig' as Philip demonstrated some of his techniques to the delegates, and they also did an excellent job for us in the afternoon session.

We are very grateful for their efforts and delighted that they also appeared to find the whole experience very fulfilling."

The latest event has built on the success of those held at Thornbury, Loughborough, Crawley and Durham — with the feedback from those attending showing that BBE has made a significant impact with the initiative.

Positive

Kenny Crookston added: "There really is an appetite for advancement among forward-looking bands in England. Attendees so far have covered a broad spectrum of brass band participants including conductors, players, committee members and administrators, and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive."

The next Artistic Development seminar will be held at Barnsley Civic on Saturday 29th June.
