The members of the North American Brass Band Summer School (NABBSS) are already enjoying themselves in Nova Scotia under the baton of Black Dyke Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs and a team of international tutors.

They have also been working hard preparing for their annual benefit concert which will be held at St Matthews United Church of Canada (1479 Barrington Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia) on Friday 5th July at 6.30pm.

Star studded line-up

This year's event has a star studded line-up of solo talent with Cory principal cornet Tom Hutchinson to be featured alongside David Childs, Grant Jameson and Emily Evans.

The NABBSS was founded in 2014 and has become a magnet for brass and percussion players from across the globe.

Honoured

David Childs commented: "We have been honoured to feature as part of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo cast for the past five years, and it is a privilege to do so once again.

However, we always look forward to our St Matthew's Benefit concert. Not only is it a chance to showcase our music, it provides us with an opportunity to give something back to the community whose hospitality we enjoy every year."

Our end of course concert promises to be an exciting experience with world class soloists and music for all tastesProf Nicholas Childs

Exciting

Based on the highly successful summer school models well established in the United Kingdom, NABBSS takes place in the dynamic waterfront Nova Scotia city of Halifax, with this year's course led by Prof Nicholas Childs, who added: "Our end of course concert promises to be an exciting experience with world class soloists and music for all tastes."

Entry is free, however donations are welcomed. All proceeds will be given to St Matthews Church of Canada.
