The contest was sponsored by the Daily Mirror Newspaper.

Prizes:

1st: £1,500 plus £2000 Guineas Gold Challenge Trophy, plus the Daily Mirror Trophy.
2nd: £1,000 plus the Frank Parker Memorial Cup.
3rd: £750
4th: £500
5th: £400
6th: £300

Members of the winning band received commemorative plaques and certificates.

The winning band received a Sovereign trombone.

The Iles Medal was awarded to Eddie Williams.

Wingates Temperance and Templemore was not invited to the 1982 contest.

This was the last contest held at The King's Hall, Bell Vue.

The Corsham Band

January 16 • Having now been promoted to the 2nd Section for the forthcoming Contest season, the band are now looking for an experienced Front Row Cornet Player to join our friendly and enthusiastic team.


Marshfield Band

January 15 • CONDUCTOR WANTED: We are a 4th section standard non-contesting band from the village of Marshfield near Chippenham. We perform at a variety of events in the region throughout the year and are seeking a new committed local conductor to lead us.
